Lithuania's former education and science minister Audronė Pitrėnienė confused her public and private interest by taking care of the premises of King Mindaugas Vocational Education Center and later taking a post in the center, the Chief Official Ethics Commission found on Wednesday.

Pitrėnienė said the decision was incorrect, pledging to file a claim against it.

In response to Pitrėnienė's proposition, the government last year reportedly allocated the center premises of nearly 1,000 square meters in Palanga. A few months after the 2016 parliamentary elections, which left Pitrėnienė without the ministerial post, she took a post to head the center's branch in Palanga.

The ethics watchdogs found she made decisions in favor of the center during the last year in office. The commission also has written evidence, proving that Pitrėnienė had asked the center to hire her.

The ex-minister told the commission on Wednesday she did not pursue personal gain when taking the post, saying she had approached the center's head for vacancies after failing to win re-election to the parliament in October of 2016.

She left the position at the center after media reports about the facts.
