Renaldas Seibutis, 29-year-old shooting guard of the Lithuanian national basketball team, will run in the elections to local government in the seaside resort of Palanga next year.

He will be a candidate of the Homeland Union–Lithuanian Christian Democrats (conservatives), the head of the party's Palanga division, Šarūnas Vaitkus, confirmed to BNS.

The elections to local governments will take place next February or March. For the first time, voters will be able to directly elect mayors as well as municipal councils.
