Eugenijus Gentvilas, the elder of the Liberal Movement's political group, and the Labor Party's acting chairman Sarunas Birutis confirmed to BNS on Friday they had been notified of the charges.

According to information available to BNS, the parties as legal entities face charges of influence peddling and bribery.

Prosecutors are currently finalizing the suspicions in the investigation that has been conducted for just over a year where Raimondas Kurlianskis, MG Baltic concern's vice-president and CEO of MB Baltic Media and Alfa Media media companies, is charged with bribery and influence peddling, while the Liberal Movement's former leader Eligijus Masiulis is suspected of bribery, influence peddling and unlawful enrichment.

In the investigation, ex-Liberal MP Gintaras Steponavicius is suspected of abuse, ex-Liberal and ex-MP Sarunas Gustainis is suspected of bribery and ex-MP Vytautas Gapsys, one of the former leaders of the Labor Party, is suspected of bribery and influence peddling.

In February, suspicions of bribery and influence peddling were brought against MG Baltic concern operating 80 companies as a legal entity.
