Mindaugas Bajarūnas, spokesman for the environment minister, told BNS on Monday that Pulkauninkas had won the selection process for the post.

Pulkauninkas, 40, has worked at Klaipėdos Nafta since October 2014. His previous career included positions at the international audit and consulting firms Arthur Andersen and Ernst and Young Baltic.

Registered in mid-January, Valstybinių Miškų Urėdija controls all of the country's 42 state forest management units. The number of these regional units is to be reduced to 26 within a year.
