The opposition Homeland Union–Lithuanian Christian Democrats continues to top Lithuania's popularity rankings and the ruling Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVŽS) holds onto its number two spot, according to an opinion poll released on Tuesday.

Some 17.1 percent of respondents said in June they would vote for the conservative Homeland Union if general elections were held next Sunday, down from 17.8 percent in May. The LVŽS would get 15.4 percent of the vote, down from 16.2 percent, the poll conducted by the pollster Spinter Tyrimai for Delfi.lt showed.

The Order and Justice party, which seeks to join the ruling coalition, came in third with 8.2 percent, up from 7.4 percent a month ago.

Gintautas Paluckas' Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP), in fourth place, saw its approval rating rising to 7.8 percent in June, from 5.4 percent in May.

Although the change is within the error margin, it shows the LSDP gaining a narrow lead over Gediminas Kirkilas' Lithuanian Social Democratic Labor Party (LSDDP), in 7th place with 4.5 percent, down from 4.9 percent in June. The two political parties had the same voter support after their divorce.

The latest poll also showed the Labor Party's popularity rising to 6.7 percent in June, from 4.9 percent in May.

Support for the Lithuanian Liberal Movement grew to 4.6 percent, from 3.8 percent, but it would still not clear the 5 percent hurdle required to enter the Seimas.

The Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania–Christian Families Alliance would receive 4 percent of the vote, slightly up from 3.9 percent.

Some 14.2 percent of respondents said they would not vote and another 10 percent were undecided.

Spinter Tyrimai polled 1,003 people aged between 18 and 75 years across Lithuania on June 19-27. The results of the survey have an error margin of 3.1 percent.
