In his words, the party will discuss response to the statements by their coalition partners, the Social Democrats, about withdrawal from the ruling bloc.

Pranckietis said the Social Democratic Party's position "to keep people in stress" was "not very cautious and not very respectable."

"I want to say it publicly and loudly – it is also the larger group of the coalition that has a right to decide who gets to be in the coalition," he told Žinių Radijas news radio on Wednesday morning.

The presidium of the Social Democratic party last week urged the party's branches to consider the outlook of the coalition agreement with the LFGU by mid-September.

The Social Democrats' leader Gintautas Paluckas mentioned the possibility to withdraw from the coalition after the LFGU signed an agreement with the opposition Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats (conservatives) on the latter party's support to the reform of the forestry sector in return to tax discount on central heating.

The LFGU political group has 56 members in Lithuania's 141-seat parliament, while the Social Democrats have 19 mandates.
