Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas is hosting an official reception at the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania on Wednesday night, and President Dalia Grybauskaitė will launch the forum's official events on Thursday.

The Women Political Leaders Summit will be attended by President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca of Malta, former President of Latvia Vaira Vike-Freiberga, former Prime Minister of New Zealand Helen Clark and other leaders.

The majority of participants will be lawmakers from various countries, including the United States, European countries, also Rwanda, South Sudan, Saudi Arabia and the Philippines.

With this forum, Lithuania will seek to attract attention to the fact that it was one of the first European countries to grant women the right to vote. Moreover, ways to better involve women in the IT sector will be also discussed during the forum as four fifths of jobs in this sector in Europe are occupied by men.
