The Cabinet on Wednesday gave the go-ahead for the diplomat's appointment, effective from November 6.

The decision has already been endorsed by the Seimas Committee on Foreign Affairs and still needs to be approved by the president.

Vasiulis, who currently serves as ambassador-at-large at the Foreign Ministry, will replace Lithuania's outgoing ambassador to Kazakhstan, Vytautas Naudužas.
