In Lithuania, ambassadors are appointed by the president, following nomination by the government and approval but the parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Kudzmanas has served as ambassador to Turkey and Azerbaijan and previously worked at the Lithuanian Embassy in Lithuania as an advisor on economic affairs and served in various positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
