The list of individuals banned from entering Lithuania should be made public, says Parliamentary Speaker Loreta Graužinienė.

"I support the idea of going public with the lists, the society should know who are on the lists, there should also be an explanation of why they are unwelcome in Lithuania," the parliamentary speaker told Žinių Radijas on Wednesday.

She added that Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius or other officials could explain the reasons behind keeping the lists secret. In Graužinienė's words, there may be a reason why the lists cannot be made available to the public.

In June 2015, the Lithuanian government decided that data of foreigners who are banned from coming to Lithuania as a threat to state security could be made public. Publishing the information is a decision made by the institutions that decided to blacklist the individuals.

Graužinienė said she trusted the Lithuanian institutions, which decided to include Russian pop musician Oleg Gazmanov into the list. Last week, he was refused entry in Lithuania for a performance at a private party.
