By the document, the parliamentarians urged the government and the Foreign Ministry to provide constant and thorough updates on the course and the results of the negotiations between the United Kingdom and the European Union on the country's withdrawal from the organization.

The parliament also emphasized the importance of ensuring rights of Lithuanian citizens living in the UK.

"(...) Lithuania calls upon the United Kingdom to ensure continued and protected rights of the Lithuanian citizens who live, work, study and build their lives in the United Kingdom, underlining its plans to make every effort to ensure adequate protection of rights of UK citizens in the European Union and Lithuania," reads the resolution.

The document accentuates the direct effects of EU-UK economic and political relations upon Lithuania's economy, stressing that "it is in Lithuania's interest to develop mutually beneficial economic and political relations between the United Kingdom and the European Union."

UK-EU Brexit talks should open later this month, with the country planned to leave the community at the end of March of 2019.
