No Lithuanian tourists were hurt during an attack on an Egyptian hotel in Hurghada last Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said.
Bella Vista hotel in Hurghada

Two armed men attacked the Bella Vista hotel located in the Egyptian Red Sea resort on January 8. Three tourists were stabbed and slashed. Security forces shot and killed at least one attacker. Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Ten tourists from Lithuania were staying at the hotel at the moment of the attack, the Foreign Ministry's spokesman Kęstutis Vaškelevičius told ELTA. A Lithuanian consul wasin touch with the travel agency which brought the tourists to Egypt.

After consultations with Lithuania's Foreign Affairs Ministry, tour operators Tez Tour and Novaturas on Saturday cancelled their flights from Vilnius to Hurghada. All Lithuanians who had to return as planned were brought home by a charter Small Planet Airlines flight. If safety continues to be a concern, Tez Tour says it will transport all Lithuanian holidaymakers from Hurghada.

On Friday night, 222 Lithuanian tourists were in Hurghada, 10 of them staying at the Bella Vista hotel.
