Lithuania's President Dalia Grybauskaitė is meeting with leaders of other European Union (EU) nations in Brussels on Friday to discuss the initiatives to deepen economic integration and assess the progress of the Brexit talks with the United Kingdom.

On Friday, the European Council should give a green light to a new phase of the negotiations after an agreement was reached between London and Brussels last week on the EU exit bill, citizens' rights and the Irish border.

Great Britain should withdraw from the EU in spring of 2019, a date until it expects to agree with the EU on trade conditions.

One of Lithuania's priorities in the Brexit talks is to ensure rights of the few hundred thousand Lithuanians living in Britain.

The EU leaders will also discuss cooperation in the development of the monetary and banking union.
