In her message of congratulation to Korea's President Park Geun-hye and the people of her country, the Lithuanian president underlines that Lithuania and South Korea have similar historical experiences, shared respect for the values of democracy and freedom and strong love of independence, the president was quoted as saying in a statement by her press service.

"I am delighted that our close ties are further deepened and strengthened by meaningful cooperation. The liquefied natural gas ship-repository, built for our country in the Republic of Korea, is a perfect example of such cooperation. This vessel will help ensure Lithuania's energy independence. I therefore invite to continue strengthening economic relations between our two countries and explore new forms of mutually beneficial collaboration," the Lithuanian president wrote in her message of congratulation.

Meanwhile extending congratulations to Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and all the people of India, Grybauskaitė expressed hope cooperation between the two countries would increase.

"Counting the seventh decade of its independence, India today is one of the major economic, political and cultural centers in the world. As I send my congratulations on your national holiday, I strongly hope that our countries will discover more opportunities of cooperation in all spheres and that the bilateral relations between Lithuania and India will continue to consolidate," the Lithuanian president wrote in her message of congratulation.
