The minister is scheduled to meet with Chinese business people, wholesalers, processors and top officials at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Martynas Žilionis, the Lithuanian Agriculture Ministry's spokesman, told BNS.

Surplys will also visit China Agricultural Trade Fair, where Lithuanian companies are showcasing their products, he said.

The minister, who started his visit to China on Monday, has already met with the heads of the General Administration of Customs and China's Cuisine Association.

"Possibilities for Lithuanian agricultural and food product exports to China were discussed during the meetings," the spokesman said.

Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė is also leaving for China on Friday to discuss trade issues.

She is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and attend the First China International Import Expo.

According to the State Food and Veterinary Service, Lithuania has already obtained dairy and fish product export permits from China and is currently waiting for a beef export permit.

China currently ranks 25th among Lithuania's export markets and 13th in terms of imports, based on figures from Statistics Lithuania.
