A C-27J Spartan could be also sent to Sweden, if necessary.

Sweden has been fighting forest fires since the beginning of this summer, and the situation has worsened recently as new fire outbreaks have been detected.

A Lithuanian military helicopter Mi-8 has been deployed since Wednesday to assisting in putting out fires in the western part of Latvia.
