It will be headed by businessman Mahfouz Marei bin Mahfouz, the Foreign Ministry said.

"I am proud to see a member of one of Saudi Arabia's most famous and respected families become our honorary consul. I am convinced that the broad business connections of our honorary consul will help Lithuanian businessmen find ways to the new market. We believe that the honorary consul's since and active work will open broader opportunities for our cultural, scientific and university cooperation," Linkevičius said at the opening festivities.

At the Jeddah Chamber of Industry and Commerce uniting 200,000 members, the Lithuanian delegation presented the country's key exports-oriented economic sectors, namely, food, biotechnologies and textile. A preliminary agreement was reached to hold a visit of Saudi Arabia's businessmen to Lithuania before the end of this year.
