After completion of the necessary procedures, Michnevičiūtė should take the post in the US for a three-year term on January 1 2018.

Michneviciute has many years of experience as a journalist: she worked in the Respublika daily before taking helm of the magazine Moteris more than a decade ago.

According to the press release, she gained extensive experience in international projects and the field of culture during her journalistic career.

"I truly hope the new attache to make a significant contribution to opening the US market for Lithuanian artists and making the country's art institutions better familiar with Lithuanian artists. To achieve the objectives, the attache institution has been moved to New York as the US capital of art. We expect the move to make the conditions for attache better," Lithuania's Culture Minister Liana Ruokytė-Jonsson said in the press release.
