At the moment of continued tension in the Korean Peninsula, Grybauskaitė wished the newly-elected president resolve inspired by the trust and confidence of South Koreans to consolidate all the people of the Republic of Korea in addressing important economic, political and security issues as well as ensuring peace and stability, the President's Office said in a press release on Wednesday.

In her message, the Lithuanian leader reaffirmed her determination to enhance cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Lithuania and wished the president-elect continued success and wisdom in this highly important and responsible position.

The new leader of the Republic of Korea now faces a few challenges, ranging from handling consequences of an immense corruption scandal to tensions with the neighboring North Korea.
