The Pašilaičiai Parish of St. John Paul II has already launched preparatory work for the construction of a Catholic school that is expected to open in September 2019.

The first ever papal visit to Lithuania 25 years ago highlighted "the difference between yesterday and today" both for the state, which was at that time making its first steps on its path to freedom, and for the Roman Catholic Church in Lithuania, the archdiocese said.

Pope Francis is expected to visit Lithuania on September 22 to 23.
