“The Honorary Consulate in Kaunas is important for the development of closer ties between our countries and enhanced people-to-people contacts. Lithuania has a strong energy partnership with Finland. Our practical partnership to implement such energy projects as the Finnish company Fortum’s investment in Klaipėda and Kaunas testifies to the fact,” said the Lithuanian Foreign Minister at the opening ceremony of the Consulate.
According to him, the new Consul is a famous academician, public figure and former Member of the European Parliament. Leonidas Donskis will significantly contribute to bridging the gap between the Lithuanian and Finnish cultural and academic communities.
