About 60 Lithuanian nationals were in Nepal during the powerful earthquake that shook the country on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday, adding that attempts to contact four of them have so far been unsuccessful.

The ministry has no reports about injured Lithuanians.

The Foreign Ministry has asked all citizens of Lithuania currently in Nepal, India, China and Bangladesh or their relatives to register at pilieciai@urm.lt.

The death toll of the severe earthquake that hit Nepal on Saturday has already reached 2,500, with 6,239 more people injured.

Estonia's Foreign Ministry has received a confirmation that one Estonian national died during the quake.
