During the meeting, the officials discussed the possible Lithuania’s contribution to help Ukraine and other EU neighbour countries to implement reforms in the energy sector.
Minister Neverovič noted that Lithuania had gone a long way to reform the energy sector and had accumulated priceless experience and would like and be able to share it with other countries aiming to integrate in the European Union.
“We believe that Lithuania’s achievements in the fields of developing gas and electricity markets, the rapid implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects and knowledge gained from the closure of the Ignalina nuclear power plant can be a successful example for these countries,” said the Lithuanian minister.
During the meeting, it was agreed to seek a more intensive use of all available instruments contributing to the promotion of the integration of Ukraine and the EU within the energy sector.
