"It is a European project on connecting the gas network to Europe. It is needed so that the Baltic states are integrated into the European gas pipeline system," the head of the Government explained on Thursday in an interview to the Žinių Radijas radio.

Butkevičius said that after the gas pipeline will be laid in around 2020 or 2024, Klaipeda liquefied natural gas terminal will be able to connect to the pipeline and conduct trade through it.
