The average electricity price in the Nord Pool Spot Lithuanian bidding area on 17-23 August was EUR 45.54/MWh. Compared with the previous week, the price fell by 12 percent.

Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid said that last week the country imported 66 percent of electricity consumed. Half of it was imported from Latvia, Estonia and Finland, while the rest - from third countries. Last week both units of Kaliningrad combined heat and power plant were operational and import from Kaliningrad grew by 14 percent.

The summer heat wave has subsided and electricity demand fell by 4.5 percent compared to the previous week. By a tenth more electricity was generated in Lithuania compared to 10-16 August. Wind generation grew by 50 percent, while Kruonis hydroelectric power plant generated by 37 percent more electricity.

International Latvia-Estonia interconnection capacity on 17-23 August was on average used at 90 percent, Lithuania-Latvia - 44 percent, Lithuania-Belarus - 49 percent.
