A special exemption will also be in place for larger groups of tourists until the end of this year.

Vilnius authorities expect the city budget to get around 2 million euros from the new fee next year.

Accommodation providers will be responsible for the collection of the tourist fee which will not be included into room prices.

Tourist fees are being collected in many European cities.
