Lithuania's railroad network administrator, Lithuanian Railways, has decided to limit train speeds due to an intense spell of hot weather.

As of 6 August, speed of all passenger trains is limited to 80 kilometres per hour. Freight trains will not be allowed to exceed 70 kilometres per hour.

Service delays are expected due to the speed limits.

The limit will be kept to until weather conditions allow lifting it.
