Ship traffic at the Lithuanian seaport of Klaipėda is being resumed on Tuesday as winds have subsided.

"Navigation started to be partially resumed at 8 a.m. and four small ships currently are being navigated out of the harbor," Nijolė Dvarionaitė-Milkintienė, the port's spokeswoman, told BNS.

A total of 13 vessels waited to enter the port on Tuesday morning and another ten waited to leave it. The speed of winds in Klaipeda was six to seven meters per second with gusts of up to 20 mps, down from up to 25 mps registered in the early hours of Monday.

Restrictions on ship traffic at the port had been in place since Sunday afternoon.
