In February, the first time in the last three months, a slight increase in consumption was observed. However, the level of consumption remains much lower against the same period a year ago, a buyers' monthly expenses index by the retailer Maxima LT shows.

According to Žydrūnas Valkeris, director general of Maxima LT, consumption started slowly growing as the Lithuanians got used to the new currency, the euro.

The consumer confidence indicator by Statistics Lithuania also points to improving moods of consumers in Lithuania. The indicator plummeted down when the euro introduction plans were announced in August and September 2014, but is has been consistently growing for the last few months.
