The spread of the WannaCry ransomware that encrypts computer data has been halted in Lithuania, however, experts warn that the hackers may try finding new ways of the cyber attack of the immense scale.

As of Tuesday, the virus has affected a preliminary of 105 domains in Lithuania, with the figure unchanged since Monday.

"We see no new cases of infection in Lithuania so far, as this has to do with the global situation – the functioning of the virus has been somewhat frozen," Rytis Rainys, director of the RRT Networks and Information Security Department, told BNS on Tuesday.

In his words, the spread of the virus worldwide has been halted by British IT specialists: “However, this situation can be temporary, as the specialists are currently awaiting a modification of the virus.”

In his words, the list of infected domains in Lithuania does not include any objects of state importance or other crucial systems.
