Lithuania's Ministry of National Defence said on Friday that over the last two weeks a total of 206 citizens had volunteered to sign up for a 9-month military service, including 9 women.

The official beginning of conscripts' call-up is 11 May.

The called-up draftees will be from 19 to 26 years old (inclusive). However, according to National Defence Minister Juozas Olekas, volunteers for military conscription, male and female, are welcome from 18 to 38 years old.

Volunteer draftees will enjoy the priority to choose desired place of service as well as will be entitled to 25 percent higher accumulative benefits than regular draftees.
