The team was introduced to the port's experience in transporting cargo of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) to and from Afghanistan, as well as the capacities of the port's terminal.

The information is expected to step up integration of Lithuania and Allies, which is necessary during exercises and to improve security in the Baltic states.

The NATO Joint Force Headquarters Brunssum is operational headquarters that exist to plan and command joint NATO operations. Its main tasks have to do with command of the NATO ISAF operation in Afghanistan, NATO response force and planning of NATO's Article 5 (collective defence) operations.
