On 20-22 October the commander of the Lithuanian Air Force is attending a scheduled meeting of heads of delegations to the NATO Air and Missile Defence Committee in Brussels (Belgium) during a work visit.

On 23-24 October Colonel Navickas will attend Conference on Development and Increasing Relevance of UAVs organised by the Italian Air Force Institute of Military Aeronautical Science. The Italian Air Force will introduce their achievements, share experience and present areas for possible co-operation in the UAV area at the event. The Lithuanian chief of defence will also meet with the Italian Air Force Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Pasquale Preziosa for discussion over pilot training for the C-27J Spartan.

Defence co-operation between Lithuania and Italy is based on a governmental agreement endorsed in 1999. Currently the co-operation between the two countries is undergoing an upsurge, both in terms of NATO exercises and bilateral co-operation. In June 2006 Lithuania signed a procurement contract on buying 3 C-27J Spartan aircraft from Italy's Alenia Aeornautika S.p.A.

The Italian Air Force will take over the NATO Baltic Air Policing Mission from Portugal as from January 2015.
