The troops experienced some ringing in their ears after the incident at the Pabrade shooting range and were taken to hospital, but they returned to the training area shortly, Captain Paulius Babilas told BNS.

The Germans will undergo a more thorough medical examination on Saturday, he said.

The military police is investigating the incident.

Around 4,000 NATO troops are taking part in the Iron Sword exercise.
