TLT/DELFI.lt visited the Ministry of Defence to talk with Brigadier General Gintautas Zenkevičius about the current situation in the Lithuanian Army and its capacity to defend the nation.

Gen. Zenkevičius warns that, with the current level of financing, there can be no talk of developing the army. "When you are financed at bellow 0.8 percent of the GDP, you are not developing, you are just doing selective sustainment of existing capabilities," he tells TLT/DELFI, explaining, that genuine development of the forces can only start with a defence budget of over 1.2 percent of the GDP.
