The websites began to experience disruptions at around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday due to a denial of service attack (DDoS). The situation was stabilized, but a second attack started shortly, Diena Media News director Tadas Širvinskas told BNS.

The websites functioned normally later that evening and no new attacks were recorded on Wednesday.

The Delfi.lt, 15min.lt, Lzinios.lt news sites came under similar attacks recently.

The Criminal Police Bureau has opened a pre-trial investigation after BNS Lithuania's system was hacked on April 12 to post a fake news article about US troops in Latvia.
