Lithuania's Defence Minister Juozas Olekas, currently on a visit in Hungary, has suggested that the country should deploy troops in Lithuania and participate in international NATO exercises organized in the Baltic state.

"We are grateful to Hungary for the attention to our region and we will do our best to provide best possible conditions for Hungarian troops training in Lithuania. Hungary's support is a very important factor for ensuring our safety," Olekas said at a meeting with his Hungarian counterpart, Csaba Hende.

The Hungarian minister told the Lithuanian official about the decision to appoint a Hungarian officer to the NATO staff under establishment in Lithuania.

In their discussion of the situation in Ukraine, the two ministers agreed to show support to the Ukrainian government during the difficult time.
