German, Belgian, Croatian, Luxembourgian, Dutch and Norwegian troops serving in the battalion and Lithuanian troops earlier in the day took part in a ceremony to pay homage to the Croatian soldier.

Lithuania's Chief of Defence Lieutenant General Jonas Vytautas Žukas has been informed by his Croatian counterpart in a letter that Croatian authorities plan to carry out a further investigation into the circumstances of the soldier's death.

The Croatian man on Tuesday was found dead by other soldiers in his room in the barracks. According to preliminary information, his death was not violent.

The man's family have been notified of his death.

Croatia deployed its soldiers to contribute to the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group in Lithuania in early December.
