Later this week, Portuguese fighter jets will also arrive in Šiauliai.

The Canadians and Portuguese will replace British and Polish contingents during an official ceremony on 1 September.

The Baltic air policing mission will be also bolstered by German fighter jets stationed in Estonia and Dutch jets from Poland.

The Alliance has strengthened the mission in the wake of Russia's aggression in Ukraine.
