Lithuania's second-largest city Kaunas has won the right to host the International Children's Games, which is also known as the Olympics for children, in 2017, the municipality said.

The right was awarded to Kaunas by the organizing committee of the International Children's Games at a meeting in Australia last weekend.

Held since 1968, the International Children's Games are organized every year where 1,500-2,000 children from cities around the world and between the ages of 12 and 15 participate in a variety of sports and cultural activities. The last games were held in Athens (Greece), San Francisco (US), Reykjavik (Iceland) and Bangkok (Thailand).
