Awards for the best athletes and coaches of 2015 were presented at the Opera and Ballet Theatre on January 5 with pentathlete Laura Asadauskaitė taking the Sportswoman of the Year award and cyclist Ramūnas Navardauskas taking the Sportsman of the Year award.

There were 11 nominations in total: male and female athletes of the year, women's and men's teams, disabled athlete of the year, victory of the year, coach, breakthrough and return of the year, as well as awards for support of the athletes and lifetime merits.

Sports fans had a chance to express their opinion – their votes accounted for a quarter of the overall vote. The rest of the votes were placed by the National Olympic Committee, Lithuanian sports journalists, and the Department of Health and Physical Education.

The event was attended by the Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius, as well as legendary discus thrower Virgilijus Alenka, basketball coach Jonas Kazlauskas.

The results were:

Sportswoman of the Year: pentathlete Laura Asadauskaitė
Sportsman of the Year: cyclist Ramūnas Navardauskas
The women's team of the year: rowers Milda Valčiukaitė and Donata Vištartaitė
Men's team of the year: Lithuanian men's basketball team
Victory of the Year: canoeist Henry Žustautas
Coach of the Year: boxer‘s E. Stanionis coach Vidas Bružas
Athlete with a disability: Lithuanian blind hockey team
Breakthrough of the Year: boxer Eimantas Stanionis
Return of the Year: disabled rower Augustas Navickas
The award for helping the athletes: Lithuanian hockey team coach Bernd Haake.
Lifetime award: Kazimieras Motieka

The athlete’s awards have been held annually since 1994.
