"We are glad to see the city of Los Angeles joining the centennial celebration of restored modern Lithuania. Such attention is an important gift to the community of 10,000 Lithuanians living in and around Los Angeles," Lithuania's Consul General to Los Angeles Darius Gaidys said.

The LAX Gateway Pylons, an installation that has become a symbol of the city, will turn yellow, green and red until early hours of Feb. 17.

The Los Angeles airport, which is the second-largest airport in the US, serves around 190,000-220,000 passengers every year.

On Feb. 16, Lithuania will mark 100 years since the restoration of its statehood.
