During a one-day unofficial visit in the Baltic state, the German parliamentary speaker will meet with Lithuania's President Dalia Grybauskaitė, Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis and Seimas Speaker Viktoras Pranckietis, as well as visit German troops stationed in Lithuania.

Germany heads the international NATO battalion stationed in Lithuania earlier this year.

So far this year, the German troops were visited by a delegation of the Bundestag Defense Committee, Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen, Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel and Chief of Defense Volker Wieker.
