"The Seimas of Lithuania expresses support and solidarity with the Republic of Poland over the procedures initiated against it by the European Union and recommends not to support the possible sanctions," reads the draft.

The document describes as historic the recent visit by Poland's Sejm Marshall Marek Kuchcinski, emphasizing the need for unified positions in the European Union (EU).

The draft resolution hails the determined and successful reforms in Poland, proposing to consider the possibility of implementing them in Lithuania, as well.

Among authors of the draft are Petras Gražulis, Juozas Imbrasas and Algimantas Dumbrava of the Order and Justice party, Social Demo cratic MP Artūras Skardžius, the ruling Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union's Stasys Jakeliūnas and Povilas Urbšys, as well as Rita Tamašūnienė, elder of the political group of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania – Union of Christian Families, etc.

EU officials have warned to take sanctions against Poland over the controversial judicial reform and refusal to take in refugees.
