QS World University Rankings has published a list of the best universities in the region of emerging Europe and central Asia. Vilnius University (VU) made it to the top 50, ranking in the 32nd place. One more Lithuanian institution, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, ranks slightly lower, in the 47th spot, VU reports.

Method of ranking the universities consisted of academic and employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, staff with PhD, presence of international students and other indicators.

VU received high 30th ranking position with the score 76.4 for its academic reputation, the 35st position for the employer's reputation. VU was awarded the highest 26th ranking for citations per paper with the score of 90.9.
