Kunigaikštis Vildaugas, Vilnius' legendary “duke” who was famous for singing “America” at the top of his voice in the city's old town, passed away in his apartment on Monday night, Vilnius' police have confirmed.

Stasys Urniežius, who preferred introducing himself to people in the streets of Vilnius as Kunigaikštis Vildaugas (Duke Vildaugas), was a former member of the Vilnius city council. His hat, pipe, books and beer bottles had become a familiar sight for visitors and residents alike in Vilnius' old town.
