"The aid will reach Ukraine between Christmas and the New Year. The goal is to provide Ukrainian troops with what they need most at the moment. The aid to reach the front in the form of various items," Paulius Kijauska, one of the coordinators of the Lithuanian-based public movement Blue/Yellow, raising money for Ukraine, told BNS.

Blue/Yellow held an art auction in Vilnius on Sunday and raised almost 50,000 litas (almost EUR 14,500) for Ukrainian troops.

Other Lithuanian NGOs are also regularly sending humanitarian shipments to Ukraine. The Government of Lithuania is also providing aid to Ukraine and has already spent around 1 million litas for the purpose.

Troops injured in eastern Ukraine are also undergoing treatment in Lithuania, and Ukrainian war orphans have been invited to study in the Baltic country.

It was also announced during Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė's visit to Kiev in late November that Lithuania would provide military assistance to Ukraine as well.
