While the world expresses surprise that Donald Trump has won the United States presidential election, one Lithuanian citizen from Southwest Lithuania rejoices having won 9,000 Euros. A year ago the man bet 1,000 Euros and believed that Clinton was going to lose and no one else but Trump will win the election. At that time betting offers at the betting company “TOP sport on the 45th US president’s victory ratio was of one to nine.

“I want to congratulate the winner and emphasise that many Lithuanians believed that Trump will win. We have counted 111 cards where people bet on the victory of the republican”, said “TOP sport” manager Gintaras Staniulis.

Hillary Clinton was the favourite in betting offers. Betting enthusiasts could triple their bet at first, but later only by 20 percent.

Donald Trump was not even considered as a serious candidate more than a year ago. Coefficient of his victory was 14, but later dropped to 2 and increased to 4 on the last minutes.

“I always say that it is more difficult to predict the end of the election than the end of sport competition. Many people could relate to the Lithuanian parliamentary election, but I would look further than that. For example, when Rolandas Paksas became the president of the Republic of Lithuania in 2003, all polls showed that Valdas Adamkus was going to win, but people voted for Paksas and at the same time bet the money on his victory”, claimed Gintaras Staniulis.

701 people believed that Hillary Clinton would win the elections. 111 bet on Donald Trump, and only one percent of betting enthusiasts bet on all other candidates.
