The city government has set aside €300,000 for the new measures with much of the document focusing on education to teach people how to help those who are considering suicide.

Lithuania has the highest suicide rate in the European Union and one of the highest rates in the world.

The document defines measures to be used to reduce the number of suicides that will be used until 2019.

Data from 2014 indicates that there are 33 suicides for every 100,000 people living in Lithuania.
