The participation of Lithuanian school students in paramilitary camps in Russia is a concrete example of how third countries influence Lithuanian citizens and an try to represent them as disloyal to the state, President Dalia Grybauskaitė said on Tuesday.

She said that the responsibility should rest with the secondary schools.

"These examples prove that propaganda sometimes gives results. We know that people, who travelled to militarised camps in another country, wore military uniforms of that country, gave oath and sang the anthem of that country. Lithuanian citizens did this, therefore, responsibility without any doubt falls on schools as well, because teachers who also are Lithuanian citizens took part in this," Grybauskaitė told journalists.

The president urged to defend the country against propaganda and information wars. "This is a concrete example of how our young people are affected, how attempts are made to turn Lithuanian citizens disloyal to their state," the president said.
